The River Brent in its new guise of a straightened concrete 'cut' from the Harrow Road to the Piccadilly Line. Before 1934 it meandered down the Brent Valley and looped out into Twyford Abbey grounds.

The Gypsy Field. Our own recreation ground. There was a playground at the Rizla end with swings and roundabouts. Sunday mornings were for young boys football. just coats for goal posts. The name has a derivation. Up to the 1920s this part of Alperton was wasteland, and used by gypsies to live on, and handle the results of their rag and bone trade. After the War a small yard was used on the Harrow Road which backed on to Stonebridge Rec.

Three huge stacks of bagasse, the residue after extracting the juice from sugar cane. It was the basic raw material for boarding. It was also the reason for Celotex choosing this site. The bagasse was taken from London Docks by canal to Alperton for unloading.
