 Hungerford Wharf on the Kennet and Avon Canal. Bought by the GWR in 1852, canal traffic was discouraged. It was nearly 50 years later to this photo, in 1951, that the last end to end transit of the canal took place. However, by the end of the 20th Century the canal had been restored back to full opening. |
