I was stationed in this area in 1950 with the REME .10 Veh. Depot workshops, when I was there our address was Sudbury, there was as station near the Road to Derby. The road to Lichfield went past a side road to Marchinton on which the entrance to the camp was . Anyone reading this may know --or have heard of Dave Tipper who was a teacher in Marchington and was a corporal working with education corp sergeants, one of whom was Sgt.George All I know about this photograph is the railway to Derby. |

This camp was established by 1941; it served the US Army and was a prisoner of war base after D-Day. It saw service by the British Army following the war; the land was sold off in the 1980s. [Wikipedia] |
