The round building in the middle is The Floral Hall, a popular dance and roller skating venue until about 1971. Below it is a man made lake with an island said to be a Crannog or ancient lake dwelling which was used a a pleasure boating lake. This area within the woodland is now the site of the new Zoo. The original Zoo which opened in 1934 is below the Plateau, to the right of the Floral Hall. The amusement park is at the far end of the Plateau. |
