Site of old abbatoir . You often heard the squeal of the pigs from the nearby school but we were not really aware of what was going on there.

Tongwynlais is not in this picture, which is of Taff's Well only, looking north-east. The Glamorganshire Canal is obvious and passes under the prominent bridge centrally. The picture seems to predate the construction of the footbridge to Gwaelod.

It might do, but cannot really tell as the footbridge (PontsionPhillip) is located further up river

Dear all, thank you very much for taking the time to contribute, we have followed up on your comments and amended the image to its correct identity to Taff Wells.

Taffs Well NOT Tongwynlais

This a view of northern part of Taffs Well Looking East NOT Tongwynlais. River Taff at the bottom. Taff Vale Railway running across the middle. At the top you have the Glamorgan Canal and the Cardiff Railway running together and crossing over each other, with what is now Moy Road Passing over both. Immediatley to the north (left) of the road bridge is Glan y Llyn lock and the whitewashed lock cottage (still there)

This is the upper end of Taffswell, with the Primary school to the left of the picture and the river Taff in the foreground, the railway through the middle and the Glamorganshire canal skirting the houses above.

This is NOT Tongwynlais!
