This complex was built in 1902 for the Partick Electric Co, established by the burgh of Partick, and designed by the Burgh Surveyor, John Bryce. As was common practice at the time, the refuse was burned to provide some of the heat for the boilers of the generating station. Taken over by Glasgow Corporation in 1912, electricity generation ceased in 1920
