 'New' Gallows bridge. The tube line is the southern boundary of Hanwell parish. THE GALLOWS where highwaymen and thieves were hanged stood between Boston Manor Station and the motorway and would have been clearly visible from the river. Further down the canal is the "new" Gallows Bridge (built to allow the horses that towed the barges to cross the canal). |
