This picture is taken from the north-east looking across Chester-le-Street towards the railway station and the new housing on the far side of the line. At this time the station employed a sizeable staff catering for both passenger and goods traffic. The large open space near the station is Turnbull's Field, named after the local auctioneer and estate agent. |
