I agree with smoore's comment, it is hulme and Pauldins. Cambridge St runs across from right to left of forefront Pauldins

This is Hulme in Manchester.At the top just right of centre are the grounds of All saints church- which is now a small park. Cavendish Street and Stretford Road comprises the main thoroughfare on the right hand side of the picture- the drill hall can be seen just below the large white building. The top left of the pctture shows the mackintosh Rubber works- now student accomodation. The road going left to right through the centre with the shops on it is Medlock Street. The left of the picture is north.

I'd say they're about 7-8000 feet. But where has such a rigid rectangular/ squares layout ? Looks like a church top right.
