Future terminal point of trolleybus route 612 Mitcham - Battersea. A turning circle was created to run down London Road, round Upper Green East and into Commonside West. The 612 ran from 12th September 1937 untill 30th September 1950, replaced by bus route 44. This early withdrawal, some eight and a half years before the main conversion programme got underway was because Wandsworth depot which operated both trams and trolleybuses was converted to a bus garage as part of Stage One of "operation Tramaway" - the end of London's trams. Trolleybus route 630 ( London's longest) still continued to run through Mitcham Green.
