4 COR [corridor] leads a 12 car formation. Built for the Portsmouth line, known (obviously) as Pompey stock, but nicknamed 'Nelsons' because the non drivers side across the corridor connection held the route number, thus making it look one eyed.

Under the Southern Railway known as the Chatham lines but under British Railways became the Eastern Section of the Southern Region.
