When this photograph was taken the town was having a proper sewage system built and it is likely that the soil disturbance here and on the other side of the river where [contractors?] huts can be seen is part of the works for this project.

Part of the School Green or Plain, an open space where the annual Thetford May Fair was held until abolished in the early 1870s.

This track follows the route of an ancient highway that led to the Town Bridge river crossing. Probably ceased to be used when the grounds of the Boys' Grammar School was closed off in the late 1870s. The former highway remains as a public path today.

The Canon's Barn. It is not known when it was built beside the Brandon Road. It was demolished by Thetford Borough Council in the late 1960s. During the Great War it served as accommodation for RAMC.

Probable site of the Canons a large house that was occupied until at least the 1930s. During the Great War 1914-18 part of it served as an Auxiliary Hospital c1915-16 (A Small Fragment of the Great War The Ancient Borough of Thetford 1914-19 and a few years beyond, David Osborne, 2014). I do not known exactly when the Canon's was demolished.
