Wealdstone Territorial Army Drill Hall in Whitefriars Avenue.
The origins of this building must pre-date 1908, as a stone inscription in the end wall indicates the unit based there was the 5th Middx Rifle Volunteers. This was a militia unit of the Royal Fusiliers that existed prior to the Haldane Territorial Force reforms of 1908.
During WW2 a Royal Engineers Anti-Aircraft Company was based here (it must have been a searchlight unit.)
Now an Asian cultural centre. |
