St Cuthbert's Island where St Cuthbert and St Aidan before him spent much time in prayer and contemplation. It is thought that Eadfrith may have written the Lindisfarne gospels on the island during the early 8th century. A marvellous place to visit at low tide - but please be careful and check the tide times. The tide comes in very quickly! |
