| The building at the immediate rear of the church was a primary school. St John the Evangelist C of E school apparently closed in the mid eighties. The light building further back (it was actually red brick)was the school canteen. The buildings were still extant in 2012, but somewhat dilapidated according to a video taken there by a local. Do not know the fate of this sight since that time as I do not live in this area since moving to Scotland in 1973, however, I was a pupil at the school from 1952 to 1956 |

| This house was the residence of William Pickles Hartley. It was built here next to the new factory when manufacturing moved from Bootle to Aintree in the nineteenth century. He and his family moved to a large villa in Southport a couple of decades later.The building was still in use as an office until the factory ceased manufacturing in the sixties. |

| Hartley Avenue comes to an abrupt end here just over the bridge. The avenue was probably intended to link up with Rice Lane to the west across the rec. |
