 Barkworth Arms, 63 Barkworth Road, Rotherhithe. Alfred Ernest Giles (my grand father) ran the Barkworth from 1941 to 1956.The pub was located on the corner of Barkworth Road and Millegde Street Only the east end of Barkworth Road remains and only two Victorian buildings survive today (2018).The the whole area was demolished in the 1970's. |

my husband's father and mother were married in this church in 1913. She was Margaret Rose Tipler and he was Thomas Edward Walker. He worked in Butler's wharf docks (now highly developed)and lived in Newington, and she came from Stepney. AMW |
