 Pumping station built by Eastbourne Waterworks - the chimney here is of brick but the original one was made of iron with a cowl. Fred Delves, a former resident of The Village in Meads, would regale drinkers in The Ship with a tale of how he climbed to the top and sat on the cowl. | Channel cut in the rocks by the fishermen who lived in cottages below the Pinnacle and adjacent to the pumping station. Until the 1950s, a metal post, which used to support a lantern, was visible here. For further details contact Eastbourne Local History Society. |
