This house was called Highcombe, and was built ion a plot of ground purchased in 1908, with the house being completed in 1910. In 1971 the site was sold for re-development as a block of flats, though the name Highcombe was retained.

This ancient twitten (vestiges of which can still be seen at the side of Dolphin Court) ran from Cliff Road to Darley Road (the bricked-up access visible here). It continued (and still does) to the rear of the Ship, coming out in Derwent Road. For further details contact Eastbourne Local History Society.
