This brings back memories! Pymore Road runs left to right with Gypsy Lane at the junction. We lived in the end house on the left in the early 1950's and watched the Queen's Coronation on TV at the house next door. The large building in the right foreground was the convent school where I received my early education at the hands of some pretty tough nuns! My brother and I used to visit one of the little mill cottages where the couple who owned it also had a television - we used to go down on a Saturday to watch "Six-Five Special" - a great treat. I fell out out of the large tree next to to the pond and still have the scar to prove it!

The junction opposite the convent, bottom, centre is in fact Conygar road. Gypsy Lane is further along towards Pymore.

The large field, top right is now the large housing estate of Court Orchard & Orchard Crescent etc. We moved into a new house in Orchard Crescent just after the war.Pure luxury after the damp & dark little terraced cottage in Castle Square at the bottom of South Street. No electricity, no bathroom. Some of my school chums had previously attended the Convent School and often told of some of their less pleasant experiences, You have my sympathy RJWG.
