More formally known as the Castle Eden Branch. This section of line formed part of the route of the North East Railway's electrified line from Shildon to Newport, which operated between 1915 and 1934. Note the mast structures used to support the overhead power cabling. What a shame that one of the trains is not included in the photograph! |
