Hazelhurst Road bombsite. A V2 rocket struck this point at 08.31 on the morning of Sunday 19th November 1944 and was the cause of the gap in the housing seen here. Nowadays this area has been redeveloped almost beyond recognition.

I have memories of spectating at Destruction Derbies, Super Stox and banger racing events in the early 1970's. I have an abiding memory of the number of Riley and Wolseley cars which were destroyed here on the altar of racing.
