' The Palace Cinema opened in 1929. It was built on the site of a small picture house called The Paragon Picture Palace, built in 1912. It became the Liberty Cinema in 1972. Closed down and was used as a market. It re-opened as a cinema in 2001 as the Himalaya Palace. This, in turn, closed down in 2010. The building is currently empty and disused. '
