' St Mary's RC Orphanage School. These buildings were one old barracks that housed troops based at North Hyde Gunpowder Depot during the latter part of the Napoleonic Wars. The Gunpowder Depot extended over a large area to the right with its own extensive dock running off the canal. The orphanage closed in 1950 and the buildings demolished soon after. '
