This is now the area known as Mirrlees Fields. It was once the playing fields of the Sports Associations linked to the factory. The sports clubs were closed in 1986 when Mirrlees Bickerton tried (and failed) to get permission to build houses on this area. The campaign to keep the area green was led by SCRAM (Sports Clubs and Residents Against Mirrlees). Today the fields are owned by MAN Diesel and Turbo Ltd. A local group, Mirrlees Fields Friends Group, is working with Cheshire Wildlife Trust to improve public access. '
