' Durham Hill School. Later to become an annexe for both Downham Boy's Secondary (Upstairs) and Downham Girl's School (Downstairs). Now demolished and the site occupied by housing. When I attended Downham Boy's School , on this site in the late fifties there was an active smallholding in the rear . We grew different produce and several animals were kept. The most memorable of these were the resident geese , "Sid and Sally" that doubled for security. '
