' At this time, the up and down 'fast' lines appeared both to run together south of Northwick Park station outside of the 'slow' lines. At the time of this photograph, only one line passes on the north side of the platform; the local up 'slow' line. Traces of what appear to be preparatory ground works for realignment of the up 'fast' line appear evident. As is the case with most such works, the project would have been suspended by WW2 and resumed afterwards. The reconfiguration must have been anticipated some time prior to their enablement and provision made as no major structural changes were necessary to the station or its approach. '
