Gents - I have been following Sir Alan Cobham's National Air Display around the country trying to find the exact field he used for his various displays. This is the visit to Hamsey Green, Warlingham on 29/30 April 1930. A previous photo - EPW041038 - showed the display team heading east near Woldingham before turning north to fly to the east of Kings Wood on a northerly track on this photo. EPW041037 showed them flying on SW course over the top of Hamsey Green heading down towards Caterham. Either they are flying around in formation before landing and carrying out the display - which I think is the more likely - or departing in style for Faringdon - their next Venue - 01 May 1933. The pin is located on the southern boundary of a curved field to the east of Kingswood Lodge. The SW end of the field is bordered by Moseshill Shaw and the SE boundary is bordered by an extension of woods from Oaken Shaw. It lies in a distinctive valley with the ground rising to the west. Hamsey Green is on the left hand edge of the photo about halfway up. '
