this beached Paddle Steamer must have been an unusual sight on the Foreshore. Under normal circumstances, the Paddle Steamers only collected and discharged passengers from the Pierhead. To see one so close to the Westcliffe beach rates as so unusual, this commentator wonders if the vessel had suffered an accident which required quick beaching. '
