This is an interesting point. Technically, this is all one road, but the houses to the right of this marker were built first and they were private. The houses to the left of this marker were Council Houses. In order that the private houses were distinguished from the council houses, the left part of the road was named Elmgrove Crescent, whereas the right hand part was called Francis Road. '
