The Central Criminal Court, known as the Old Bailey, was built 1903 on the site of the Newgate Prison wherein executions took place of both men and women comdemned to death. Following its' demolition, later executions took place at Pentonville (men) & Holloway (women) to which site all prisoner's of seperate sexes were transferred.
The remains of those previously executed at Newgate were transferred to the City of London Cemetery, Wanstead, and re-interred in a joint plot. |

If you read and then hide the pins at this point you might just detect (zooming in) the building work underway (1926/7) for the City of London's police force's Snow Hill police station.
Built on the site of the former Saracen's Head Inn it is now a Grade II listed building. |
