| Pontypridd Station. Opened in October 1840 as a single platform. After several rebuilds, the Taff Vale Rly. rebuilt it into its pictured form in 1907, raising the entire alignment by 5 feet. By completion in 191o, the island platform you see was the longest in Europe at the time, with departures on average every 30 seconds!
