Covered shelter here with a drinking fountain next to it if I remember correctly. Spent many happy hours in this park in the 1950s. Great for football (jumpers for goalposts), cricket, tennis (hard and grass courts)- and also with a putting course. Nice cafe as well. There were park keepers in uniform in those days and the whole place was well cared for.

Holy Trinity Church, destroyed by fire by two boys on 1st June 1943. They had also destroyed other churches in the area, and damaged others.

Happy memories of this bandstand, demolished in the 70s I think after being set on fire by vandals
