This is the outline of the “old” building of Hounslow Manor School, two courtyards with classrooms along the long sides and science labs and woodwork and metalwork classes along the short sides. Originally called Bulstrode School. This building was demolished in the 1990’s I believe.

Ornamental area with central fish pond (massive goldfish if I remember correctly) and surrounding rose gardens. The area was surrounded by thick trees and bushes when our group of friends used the park during the 1950s.

The bandstand. Can't remember this being used much in the mid to late 1950s. It fell into disuse and a poor state of repair due to neglect and the inevitable vandalism. Later demolished.

Putting course. You paid at the Park Keeper's building, obtained a putter and a golf ball and away you went. Two shillings a round c.1960 if I remember correctly.

The original Alexandra Infants and Junior school. Many happy years spent here between 1951 and 1957. Wonderful learning environment due to enthusiastic and dedicated teachers. In this image, the infants and juniors sections are on the left and right of the central quadrangle respectively. The building at the front of the school (nr. Alexandra Road) contained the headmistress and headmaster's offices (Miss Edwards and Mr Griffin in my days). The large buiding at the rear was the assembly hall. Note the building in the playground behind the hall - this contained a shelter for when it was raining and also the outside toilets. The school was sadly demolished c.2000 and is now the site of the Asda complex and adjacent car park.
