A passenger train about to depart from the factory halt on the Hendon Aerodrome railway spur. This spur was constructed during the latter part of WW1. It connected the Midland mainline with the various aircraft production facilities at Hendon and was used to carry personnel and materials to sites on the aerodrome and on to the Airco factory site on the Edgware Road at Colindale.
The spur would be decommissioned not long after this photograph was taken as wartime production rapidly reduced at the end of the war. |

Besoneaux Hangars, timber-framed, canvas covered,a very sturdy design. Used by the R.F.C. and R.A.F.during the Great War,the gliding club at Odiham was still using one in the 1970's. |
