37 & 39 Pipe Lane, this row of victorian houses formed the original Pipe lane in Peterborough. the significance of this pair of houses is that they were the very last of this row of houses. For several years they remained occupied whilst standing in the middle of what was a demolition site until they were finally demolished around 1970. This cleared way for a new Eastgate development.

67 Eastgate was where I was born in 1954. It was a shop run by my father and sold a variety of things including toys, maggots (for fishing) and accumulators which could be recharged. Rechargeables are not new, accumulators were wet batteries that people used to use to drive their radios and early electrical items. We were rehoused to Eastern Avenue, Dogsthorpe in 1960 when the area was demolished for slum clearance.
