Fog man's hut tipped over, open end down to prevent it becoming filled with rain water.
During foggy conditions a "platelayer" would be stationed here to indicate to passing trains the adjacent signal. At clear, no action. At caution, he would clip onto the rail top a "detonator" which would "explode" with a loud bang to warn the footplate crew. |
