Ex Midland railway distant junction signal. The right hand higher signal is at the "off" position indicating the home signal at the junction ahead will also be at the "off" or proceed to take the main line route.
After looking ahead at the subsequent photographs (a good idea in my estimation, prevents wild guesses)I think this signal covers the approach to a loop line for slow moving goods trains to use whilst faster passenger trains overtake. Therefore the signal indicates the next train will say on the main line and not enter the loop. |
