I have since found out that the 1920's power station was not completely demolished - i have seen plans to prove that it was 'absorbed' into the 1940's new station and I wanted to update the info that I had provided

Standard Gauge - Railway Coal Truck being tipped up for the coal to be dropped into a smaller truck to feed the boiler house for the generation of steam to turn the generators

The railway line also went into the Electricity sub station .. in the early days, the railways were the only people capable of moving heavy objects like transformers use in the generation of electricity

The old cast iron River Nene road bridge - Replaced in 1933/34 when they built the River Nene Viaduct that went over the river and the cross country railway line to Peterborough east, March and Cambridge

River Nene - The Black Bridge can be seen on the right destroyed by fire in the early 1960's The Nene to the right is the original course of the river. The left is the new direct route to Dog in Doublet, Wisbech and the North Sea.

This bridge carried the electrical power from the station to the substation on the south side of the River Nene.

This is the original 1849 GNR cast iron Viaduct over the River Nene - It was made a listed structure in the 1980's and is at present (December 2014) under restoration by Bam Nuttall and Network Rail.
