I am confident in the identifications which I have made. We now have some positive identifications in the foreground as well as some in the distance. More work will be needed to fill in the gaps but the picture is emerging. Penrhyn Quarry is unique and everything fits around it. The official grid reference above is completely wrong and will need to e revised in due course. For the present I would describe the photo as mountains of Snowdonia looking south west from above Foel Dduarth near Abergwyngregyn.

Eureka. After many hours of study I think that I can identify some of the features in this photo and the two others in the group.
