Creeper haulage taking spoil from disused Gantra pits #8,9 and 10, the shale left from mining the argillaceous iron ore pins was ideal for brickmaking, ganister clay was abundant as was small coal.

Mt. Pleasant Square at bottom right, my old family home. Many good times there with great people locally.

Hughes Avenue running up the photo to Willowtown School; crossing Mt. Pleasant Road, Council Street, Letchworth Road ( also lived there) .

Lovely photo - brings back lots of good memories.

Left Ebbw in 1969 - but it' s stiill here in my heart.

Gantre and Brynheulog Brickworks, they used the wast shale spoil from the coal and iron ore mines to make engineering bricks.
