My great granddad James Allen and other Allen relatives worked here.In fact Ranji Singhi Allen was one of the last workers who closed the site down.He was named after the great Indian batsmen ,his dad Alfred (punch) Allen being a cricket fanatic |

Ranji Singhji Allen used to allow his daughter Hazel Allen to ride in the empty chalk buckets back up to the Blue Lagoon.I interviewed her shortly before she died aged 90 a few years ago.I then wrote a blogg about Ranji Singhi Allen on my site arcangelolombari@wordpress.com |
