CTS stood for Cab Tyre Sheath(ed cables)what was later called TRS Tough Rubber Sheathed cables. St Helen's originally manufactured solid rubber tyres for cabs etc (dad said in the last war they experimented with hard rubber tyres for underground trains!) so were ideally placed to make CTS cables as well. Incidentally curing rubber (cured with steam from the power station) smells like liver cooking only 100 times worse! |
