The signalbox was not destroyed by fire due to an arson attack. BR destroyed signalboxes this way to avoid demolition costs. This box had gone out of use before 1971 - The signalbox on the Liverpool to Preston line contolled the junction for what had, by then, become only a siding for the Metal Box Company. |

Aintree CLC Junction signal box, opened 1923, the top section of the signal box was destroyed in an arson attack on 26th December 1971 and the signal box was closed. |
