General Hospital Tunbridge Wells. 8 years after this photo a new hospital, the Kent and Sussex, was opened. That is now closed and a new hospital has been built is Pembury.

I also understand it is a very large cooling tower used by the electricity board. I was at the funeral of Barry Basset who had a passion for local history, and the story was told of Barry as a boy using the pools below the towers for swimming as they were always warm. They used to get thrown out by the security man if they were caught.

This is a cooling tower, directly opposite St Barnabas junior school gate. Still in use when I left the school in 1960.
