The former St Peter's Church at the corner of Granville Road and Meads Road. It was designed by Henry Currey and stood here from 1896-1971.

This was Barclays Bank (then probably Lewes Old Bank), at the corner of Terminus Road and Junction Road. It was destroyed in an air raid on 7 March 1943. No wonder the German pilot singled it out: such an imposing building from the air.

It's a lot more probable that the German hit-and-run pilot was trying to hit the station.
