The Dover - Dunkerque train ferry service started in 1936. The fourgons built by the Southern Railway, numbered S1 - S3, were based on the SE&CR passenger luggage vans but incorporating a Guard's compartment and overhead look-out. As this photograph was taken during 1920, this cannot be a fourgon, not even left over from the CIWL Club Trains for the SER and LC&DR. |

| This whole area of the Southern Railway Works was known as Kimberley. This shop in 1948 was the 'Wagon building and repairing shop'. The southerly end was the 'new' Saw Mill. |
