A sunny, Sunday morning in 1952. A group of typically cheerful East Enders are about to set of on a Beano to celebrate the coming marriage of one of their younger pub mates. The coach stands in Portia Road close to their local, 'The Rising Sun'. Most of the men would have served in WW1 or WW2. The irrepressible humour and genuine nature is there to see, and they were literally the last of their breed.

Trolleybus heading for West India Dock on route 677. This route commenced operating on 10th September 1939 and, running in a horsehoe formation through Hackney, Dalston and Islington, ran between West India dock and Smithfield. As a replacement for tram service 77, which had run to Aldersgate, it was itself replaced by bus route 277 early on in the conversion programme on 14th April 1959.
