Slide in the children's playground, Woodlands Park. I've many happy memories of playing here.

The original site of Christ Church, completed and consecrated in 1856. The nave of the church was extended to accommodate Army church parades after Milton Barracks were built. Subsequently the roof began to sag and the vicar was advised to close the building as the roof was in a dangerous state and would cost £1,500 to repair. A fund raising campaign with the slogan 'Church closed to save lives, re-open it to save souls'. This raised sufficient money for the church to be dismantled in 1934 and rebuilt with the addition of a tower in Old Road East in 1935, just east of Echo Square, where it still stands today. 'Ten bungalows in Wrotham Road (on the corner with Cross Lane) for local disabled soldiers and sailors opened by Lord Desborough KCVO. Named the Elizabeth Huggins Cottages Charity, it is still administered today by the Borough Council.' (Year 1922, 'Discover Gravesham' website)
