My father bought this small glasshouse nursery in 1946, two years before this picture was taken. He grew tomatoes, roses and cucumbers in the 1950's, the produce going up to Covent Garden market from Chichester railway station. The nursery is still trading today as a cut flower nursery, quite unusual as many similar small nurseries have closed down since the 1970's, being no longer economic to run. |
