This loop line was the connection of the Drypool to Withernsea line. When the North Eastern Railway bought this company out, they diverted the service around the city via a new station above (Southcoates) to their Paragon station.

Bay window on the signalbox so as the the signalman could observe if there were any trams approaching. He could place the signals on the Holderness Road to danger and open the trap points. No longer needed now as the trolleybuses had taken over the 64 service just before the war.
